Re-opening Kings Quarry
Kings Quarry, is located nearby Wainui/Silverdale on 190 Pebble Brook Road north of Auckland. After being inactive for the last 30 years, work is has been ongoing to re-establishment the quarry with it now being an active working quarry providing exceptional quality material to the wider Auckland area.
Historical Timeline
Kings Quarry has a proud history that began in the 1920s on land originally settled by the grandfather of the Kings family back in 1860.
Joseph Samuel King, son of Samuel and Mary, initiated the first quarry. With support from his three sons – Samuel, Bill, and Hector – he started a bush clearing, bridge construction and roadbuilding business which enabled them to supply road metal from King's first Quarry at the intersection of Pebblebrook and Waitoki Creek.
